ASPE Conference 2019 By the Numbers

By: Todd Lash, Publications Committee Chair

The annual ASPE Conference, “Small World, Big Ideas,” will be held in Orlando, FL, from Friday, June 7 – Tuesday, June 11. Each year we like to summarize some numbers to demonstrate the diversity in program offerings.

The conference this year will feature more than 140 total hours of scheduled content:

  • 23 hours of Immersion Courses options
  • 24.5 hours of Pre-Conference Workshop options
  • 3.5 hours of Plenary options
  • Other hours of content (grouped by type):
    • 17 90-minute Workshops
    • 22 60-minute Workshops
    • 45 20-minute Snapshots
    • 1 90-minute Presentation
    • 35 60-minute Presentations

Alternately, approximate hours of content (grouped by theme):

  • Administration: 18.5 hours
  • Advancing your SPs: 22.5 hours
  • Curriculum/Case Development: 27.5 hours
  • GTAs/MUTAs: 9 hours
  • SP Educator Development: 66 hours

And we have 37 posters to view and hear about during the poster rounds!

It’s not all work during the conference. We also have scheduled a first-time attendee orientation, a welcome reception with exhibitors, an ASPE Committee’s lunch and Award Ceremony, an evening of SIG business meetings, and plenty of breaks for networking, stretching and yoga, and refreshments.

With over 400 registrants expected at the conference, along with the abundance of program content, attendees should have little difficulty advancing their professional knowledge and skills (ASPE SOBP Domain 5: Professional Development).
