SIGs: Introducing the Social Justice Special Interest Group

The Social Justice Special Interest Group (SIG) has assembled a description of the SIG. The SIG was established in 2017 and currently has 6 active members and 12 associate members.

Mission Statement (in progress): To case a gaze on social justice issues within the medical community. We understand the importance of praxis in our work – putting social justices into practice within medical education.

Vision Statement (in progress): To help give voice to marginalized and underrepresented populations in the medical community.

Monthly meetings: First Monday of the month, 12 – 1 p.m. EST until the ASPE conference, then every second month at the same time. Next meeting is Monday, June 4, 2018, 12 – 1 p.m. EST

ASPE Presentation 2018: Social Justice SIG: “All That You Change Changes You” – a discussion of Social Justice in Medical Education, Monday June 18, 3:45 – 4:45 p.m.

Publications Committee Mission: “To bring high quality reporting of current research, trends, techniques and information regarding SP methodology and other relevant industry articles to the attention of the membership through the web-based ASPE eNews blog.”
