General Interest: How Pretending to be Sick Could Help You Make Money

If you ever wonder where some of your “internet-referred” applicants come from, this article may be enlightening. The Penny Hoarder describes itself as “one of the largest personal finance websites. We help millions of readers worldwide earn and save money by sharing unique job opportunities, personal stories, freebies and more.”

The article demonstrates a reasonable understanding of the SP industry, and recommends using Indeed or a Google search of specific medical schools “+ standardized patient.” It links to Johns Hopkins’, Tulane’s, and Medical College of Wisconsin’s sites.

Applicants who seem well-researched about the kind of work we do may have read Alford’s article start-to-finish. Applicants who merely seem to be interested in any part-time gig may have only read this list (skip to #22), which was posted more recently and uses phrases like “Oscar-worthy” and “fool a medical student.”
